Merlin TT R32T

The story starts with the want for a faster car than the diesels I had been running about in some 4 plus years ago. I narrowed it down to wanting a TT due to the style, the wealth of information available online in the form of repair/modification guides and the speed out the box (did not plan to do any performance upgrades at the start of my ownership) and the timeless design.

With the choice of car determined – all that was left was to decide on the colour. I am a big fan of yellow cars so naturally I set my search for an Imola Yellow TT. Absolutely nothing decent came up for sale so I had to settle for my second choice, Merlin Purple. I found one out Telford way and set off to go take a look. This was one of them rare rare times where I ignored my head and common sense and bought on impulse (which has bitten me on the arse now, more on that to come). I left a deposit and returned a week or two later to pick it up and it was official – I was a TT owner.

First came all the standard modifications such as a Ramair intake, Badger5 turbo intake pipe and a new exhaust. This left me ready for a map if I wanted, but I was happy with it standard so left it at that. After this, it was time to sort out the interior. I booked in some time with Gavin @ Subtronix Car Audio to make me some custom door builds and A pillar pods. We added lots of deadening in the doors and Gavin built a custom baffle inside the door to mount the midbass.
